1. What is VoIP (Voice over
IP) ?
| VoIP technology enables the real-time
transmission of voice signals as packetized data
over IP networks that employ the Transmission Control
Protocol (TCP), Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP),
User Datagram Protocol (UDP), and Internet Protocol
(IP) suite.. |
2. What is the benefits of using VoIP ?
| VoIP lets you make free long distance
voice and fax calls over existing IP data networks.
Today businesses that implement their own VOIP solution
can dramatically cut long distance costs between
two or more locations. |
3. What are the functions of VoIP Gateway ?
| VoIP Gateway functions as a bridge
between your office's LAN, WAN, or the Internet
connection. Generally, different kinds of transport
media have different protocols. VoIP Gateway can
let your voice encoded transmit over IP and the
remote VoIP Gateway decode back the voice to the
phone, so that you can hear like normal IDD or phone
conversation. |
4. What are the functions of
Gatekeeper?
| Gatekeeper acts as an administrator,
managing register requests from multiple endpoints
and authentication, translating the endpoints' IP
addresses to easily memorized names, routing calls
from different endpoints to their destinations,
and controlling the bandwidth being used for connections.
In many commercial packages it may be built in a
billing system or with the ability to be combined
with other billing systems. |
